Park City, Utah — #growMTB Nation has announced its formation as a collaboration of independent non-profit organizations and coaches focused on junior development to grow mountain biking from grassroots and educational efforts to elite racers and life long cyclists.
By working together, the athletes involved in the current Member Clubs of #growMTB Nation will have greater opportunities, while the clubs can further refine their teaching techniques and unified development system in the United States. The founding club Summit Bike Club will be joined by Durango Devo, Young Riders, and Arizona Devo. These organizations have earned multiple Mountain Bike Club of the Year awards from USA Cycling, developed athletes to compete in the Olympics, and are among the largest and most competitive junior mountain biking organizations in the country.
Five coaches are included in the foundation and will lead the creation of a new coaching style for developing athletes with a focus on the education process. The coaches bring years of experience working with juniors both on the bike for skills and off the bike with endurance coaching. These renowned coaches have helped athletes qualify for and medal in the Olympics, among numerous additional accomplishments. The founding coaches include; Ben Ollett, Carmen Small, Jorge Munoz, TJ Woodruff, and Brad Gehrig.
Together, the clubs and coaches of #growMTB Nation will work together to provide opportunities for junior riders to grow as well rounded athletes through camps, races and other events. The Tech Dev ProXCT will be the first #growMTB Nation event, to be held at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah on May 12-14. The event is UCI sanctioned for elites and juniors, with USA Cycling sanctioning for all ages and categories. Additional events including more races and fundraisers will be added to the #growMTB Events calendar.
#growMTB Nation plans to expand across the United States with new club and coaching partners. If interested in joining, please use the contact form on the website to start the application process or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
